Iroko bar in Leeds AKA my new fave brunch spot

Complimentary meal at Iroko but all views and words are my own :)

I’m not even exaggerating when I say that I think after living back in Leeds for the last 21 months, I have found my new fave brunch spot.

Situated just round the corner from Briggate - a convenient little spot for brunch,  Iroko not only provides some really lush food, it also provides a vibe I wanna bottle up and take home with me. Brunch by day and turning into a bar at night with a sliding shelf to reveal sprits and wines [yes really] this place really is an interiors haven that I could [and will] spend every lazy Sunday in here getting my brunch on and here's why.

Immediately we were greeted by friendly and welcoming staff and also a big pile of cakes - instant winner for me and my big ole’ sweet tooth.

As previously mentioned, Iroko had a really dreamy interior that was a joy to take in, I couldn’t help but stare around wide-eyed and point bits out to James, I loved the retro/European feel to it.

The menu catered to a whole heap of dietary requirements, with vegan, veggie and gluten-free options available - with so much to choose from, I really had trouble settling on what to have. In the end I went for vegan homemade baked beans on sour-dough bread and added a poached egg and was recommended the hash brown - this was also vegan. James went for portobello mushrooms on toast [vegan] and also got a hash brown. To drink I chose a freshly squeezed orange juice and James a black coffee. We then waited in anticipation for our food to arrive whilst admiring the other dishes being brought out to the other brunchers.

The food arrived speedily and we were so ready to get stuck in. The presentation was beaut, the portion sizes excellent for the price points, I basically couldn’t wait to stuff my face.
The homemade baked beans came on the thickest slab of sour-dough bread with a generous helping of beans and the most perfect poached eggs, not too runny but not completely hard. But you know, I have to say I think the star of the show was the hash browns, I’m so happy we were recommended them. I presumed they would be put on our plates along with the extra add ons but these bad boys had a bowl of their own. I’ve never seen a more bougee-ier hash brown and they tasted as good as they looked. The orange juice was so zesty and refreshing, complimenting the brunch beautifully.

I couldn’t leave without getting one of the cakes that greeted us as we arrived so I decided to get one to take out as I couldn’t face it after we had finished our meal. It would have been a crime to leave without one. I settled on the peanut butter tart and can confirm it was an absolute dream. We left feeling full and our tummies very happy, already planning the next trip to get brunch.

Thanks so much for having us Iroko and if you’re in the Leeds area, a visit there for brunch is an absolute must.
