Half Year Goals

Shit lads it June NEXT.WEEK wowowowow. We will be half way through the year, half way to 2020. Just gonna let that sink in for you if you need a sec. I know I need a sec.

Ok, wow.

Well, this year I didn’t really touch on any goals on my blog or any achievements I wanted to make mine. I didn’t really set anything at the beginning go the year which is ALWAYS a huge mistake as I find that I end up just floating about, it was more of a “oh I guess I could do that” etc rather then have anything set in stone. I think It’s because I couldn’t believe another year had flown by, I was in denial and didn’t want to make plans for the new year. That and 2018 was my fave year ever ever and I was sad to say goodbye to it and apprehensive 2019 wouldn’t be as great - so far it’s not really topped it. It’s been good, just not 2018 good yano? Anyway,  ya gal needs direction, I need goals and something to work towards so, half a year late is better then never right?

1) Dump iMovie and get something a little bit more advanced.

You now whats weird? I used to hate YouTube, I used to hate filming videos and I absolutely use to loathe editing them. It mainly boiled down to that I didn’t know what I was doing. I slowly mastered iMovie [I mean I feel like I can say that because it is basic AF] and became more confident with the program and more confident with YouTube and the videos I wanted to create. Now I’ve stated dabbling into the world of videos for IG its now time I think to find a program to really bring my ideas to life. Sorry iMovie, you know longer spark joy for me. It’s a toss up between PP and FCP - leaning more towards PP. So yeah, by the end of the year I want a more sophisticated editing software to hopefully start creating more sophisticated videos [lol]

2) Get back into to running . . . . again.

lol how many times do I say this to myself? I’m forever stopping and starting and I don’t know why because I bloody love it [when I get back into it] I’m fairly consistent when it comes to going to the gym but I always find myself drifting away from running long distance and cheating on it for other things, the stair master for example. I’ve started to build up my runs again and would love to get to the point at the end of the year where I’m able to run a half marathon. I started the week by bashing out a 5K - not my quickest time but I’m sure I’ll get it back

3) Become fully Vegan.

I’ve been vegetarian for nearly 4 years now. The more I consume about the dairy industry and the treatment of animals, the less I want anything to do with it. I ditched non CF make up/cosmetics/cleaning products a while ago now. James and I have started introducing more and more vegan products into our diets. I feel quite fortunate I live in a city that can cater to this lifestyle change, we’ve found some really great places to eat out, ethical super markets that have some crazy good Vegan eats so we’ve managed to replace some of our fave things already with Vegan alternatives. I’m aiming for the end of the year to have gone fully vegan with my diet.

4) Become more sustainable in general

TBF, I have made a lot of changes with this one already, but it’s something you can never really stop improving on. I’ve stopped shopping at certain stores, stopped spending unnecessarily on throw any fashion and trying to make better choices in general when it comes to clothes purchase. I’m a fashion blogger, I love clothes and I love fashion but I love the planet more. I’m becoming more aware of the effects of how much it’s fucking it up. Basically my mantra when it comes to making a clothing  purchase, from V. Westwood herself is “buy less choose well” and it’s something I’ve been practicing for the last year and a half. As well as fashion choices, I’m trying to cut back on plastic consumption and other throw any bits. I’ve ditched cotton pads/face wipes for reusable face clothes, washable cotton pads and have even ditched house hold cleaning sponges for washable ones - I didn’t even know that was a thing. We’ve started getting fruit and veg from markets to cut down on plastic waste and I’ve now become one of those people who always has a canvas tote on them!

5) Keep on saving that money

This kinda goes hand in hand with the above. Now I’m not wasting my money on stuff I won’t care for in a few months time, I have more to save. I feel like the end of last year and going into this year I’ve been more money conscious, more savvy and more sensible. Don’t get me wrong, the odd splurge does happen [I’m only human and I like doing nice things/having nice things after working my butt off at work all week] but it’s not as frequent as it use to be. I’m 30 next year and I really want my own house and apparently those thing are money pits so I need to save up a bunch to get my one of my own . I also want to be debt free. Something I am so so close to being - I can’t wait until I’ve paid my last installment and then my money is mine, well you know, minus rent, council tax and the millions of bills we have to pay . . . .
