I got a new job

It's taken me 26 years to fathom out exactly what I want to do exactly what I can be and exactly what I like to do.

I've had a job since I was 13, like most kids I had a paper round I then progressed onto waitressing at various pubs with a brief stint in a shop that sold over-priced Italian handbags at an outlet village, so brief I can't even remember the name, Cocehnalla something I don't know nor do I care. I then spent 7 years of my adult life working at Morrisons, in between college and my year out traveling. I honestly thought I was going to end up retiring from that place [no disrespect to anyone that works there] but I really really wanted more than just an admin job at my local supermarket. I knew I was meant to be doing something else and it drove me insane as I had no fucking clue what it was. I was sick of never having weekends off, missing family occasions friends birthday nights out/meals despite trying to book them off way in advance. working 12/13 days in a row from 8pm finishes and then having to come back in at 5am the next morning took its toll. The whole environment/everything about that place took its toll.

I then escaped to the company I have just left. I have never feared for my job so much. Not because I was uncapable, because my face sometimes didn't fit, they fancied a cull or I don't know perhaps they were board that day. Whatever the reason staff turn over was high and job security was something I never felt I had there. I slogged out for 2 and a half years there, starting in sales, moving on to learner services and then I bagged my dream job of a marketing assistant for it to be snatched away from me 3 months later. With that being the final straw I set out to find a new job, in the role I knew I wanted and I knew I was bloody good at. After a few interviews and 4 weeks to the day I was told my marketing role was no more, I was offered a marketing executive role at a fashion company. The only good thing to come out of that place was meeting James, that is the only thing I am greatful for.

Yesterday was my first day. I have to get up at 5.30am to catch 2 trains to my new place, ready to start work at 8.30am. Do a full day and commute back like the rest of my fellow work commuters. I really really don't mind. I for the first time ever have a salary that reflects my role. I get to travel around the country for meetings even venturing as far as France. I'm in charge of TV adverts and OTP. First impressions the office environment seems friendly and helpful. I'm going to be busy. It's going to be full on and I can't wait.

I'm excited to see what this role brings.
