Trying to be Sale Savvy

Guys, I have a confession, it may come as a bit a surprise to you but . . . . I like to shop.

Hahaa, ok who am I kidding ya'll will probs already know I go weak at the knees for bargain fashion, the weirder the better. I'm always on the hunt for that somethin' somethin' to add to my wardrobe. However 2018 I'm trying to be a bit more savvy with my money, I'm trying to well and truly curb needless spending. I'm trying to live by the following 1) Do I actually NEED it 2) Will I get more than a handful of wears out of it 3) is this just another impulse buy? and so far, it's working. I've adopted the aforementioned rules to the sales too, I've mentioned before how Siobhan from Just a uniform had said something on her Instagram stories that really stuck with me. She was talking about the January sales and basically to sum it up, that something is only a bargain if you wanted it in the first place. I've been known to buy stuff cos I think it a good price then hardly worn in and then trough it in the back of my wardrobe, forgotten forever. So if it's something you've been eyeing up for a while/been on your wish list/ saved for later and then goes in the sale then to go for it and that's what I've tried to do to.

This year is probably the first year I didn't go nuts in the January sales mainly cos I have like 0 money after Christmas but also because I just didn't want anything. I adopted what Siobhan said and tbh, I didn't actively look at any sites really once the sales started either. The only sites I did look at were Zara and Monki, just to see if on the off chance the few bits I had been eyeing up this year had gone down in price. I ended up coming out with 2 tops and gloves from Zara and this Monki cat sweater, however, I bought this just before Christmas.

I'd seen this sweater in the Monki shop on countless trips into London. I love having a wander around the store whenever I'm visiting the city. There had been a few times where it had nearly come home with me but I just couldn't justify the £40+ price tag for something I didn't really need so, unfortunately, I had to leave it in the shop. My restraint to needless spending paid off though as I managed to get snap it up for £15 - a much Jess friendly price tag. I love the Kenzo inspired design from that jumper that was seen everywhere a few years ago and the fact that its long enough I can actually wear it as a dress! I've been living in it the past few weeks to fend off the awful icy wind that's been terrorising the streets of Leeds [tad dramtic] It's essentially like wearing a really cute warm sleeping bad but not frowned upon when I rock up to work in it.

Before I let you go [if you haven't already clicked off], I kinda also need to bring your attention to these super cute shoes James got me for Christmas. I am LIVING for a heel and glittery sock/tight combo. I'm not usually one for wearing heels as I can never find a pair I can walk in or that doesn't make me want to cry in pain when I wear them but I have just fallen completely in love with everything about them. So it obviously made sense my first outing in them I cracked out my most sparkly legwear I own. Bringing that extra something to an otherwise very dark outfit. 10/10 would recommend.
