Should the way you dress define your age?

Alternative Style Blogger Foxxtailz in Truffle Shuffle
Hi, I'm Jess, I'm 27 years old and 5 months. My favourite colour is pink [the brighter the better] I like to dress kinda silly rather than conservative, I buy things that are cute and my wardrobe resembles that of a toddler as most of my clothes are littered with cats, cute prints or other juvenile tings. Why? Because I like it.

However, as I'm getting closer to the big 3-0 [omg help me] I've been contemplating the way I dress. It's been echoing in my head for the past year or so but it wasn't until I was in London buying a big pink fluffy rabbit keyring in pull and bear for my big pink Lazy Oaf weird cat lady bag I questioned, should I actually be buying this? Not because I couldn't afford it, you know ya gals not that good with money [ahem] more because of my age. I feel like I have Blinks "what's my age again" on loop in my head and instead of ''act my age'' I think ''dress my age''. Do  I start the boring transition to boring clothes? Should I stop wearing bright colours, fluffy pink rings, socks with avocados on pulled up over my fish nets? Throw out my extensive collection of novelty bags, my beloved jackets in various colours, more garish than the last?

lol no, no I don't.

You see, that would leave me incredibly unhappy and that is exactly the point I'm terribly trying to make. I don't think the way you dress should define your age, it should just define you as a person, you've heard me prattle on about the importance of personal style before and regardless of your age it still remains relevant. Personal style is expressing YOU not what you think you should be wearing based on age, current trends or ''because everyone else is wearing it, therefore, I should too'' - the last my personal loathe.

So this weekend, I wore a my little pony pink baseball shirt the awesome guys at Truffle Shuffle sent me, along with leopard print mom shorts and my new fave combo - my avacardo and Dr Martens x lazyoaf shoes. Yeah so I'm 27 and wearing a my little pony shirt, my shorts don't stricly go but who cares I like it and that my friends is the most important element to any outfit.

GUYS! I've been shortlisted for Blogger of the freaking year and in the fashion category on the  #bloggersblogawards I'm so unbelievably grateful for everyone that voted for me, it means the absolute world. If you would like to vote for me in either category, you can do so here

  2. Ok so where do I begin:
    1) I freakin' LOVE the way you dress, never stop wearing what you want!! If you're not still wearing bright colours and leopard print when you're 40 I'm going to be having some serious words with you, never mind 30!

  3. I definitely don't look 22 that's for sure, but I'm kinda used to looking young so I just dress however I like! You look fantastic, those shoes are so nice oh. my. god.

  4. Love this post and couldn't have said it better myself- so what if you dress "older/younger" for your age? You should be able to wear whatever you want with confidence!

  6. I absolutely love your style and the fact that it's nostalgic and how we probably would have dressed in the 90's, it's pretty on trend right now. :P

I love dressing as if I'm 7 years younger than I actually am (I'm 27 too!) and I don't particularly care what anyone thinks. I can dress my "actual age" as well but that would be boring. :P
