The Mom Jean

Foxxtailz in Santa Cruz
Ahh, the mom jean. This particular trend in jean has brought quite a divide in opinion. I guess they could be classed the marmite of the jean world. NGL I thought they were ugly AF when I first saw them, that was when I thought jeans should be nothing but blood circulation cuttingly tight. How naive Jess. The older I got, the more I hated to wear skin tight jeans, to now, barely wearing jeans at all and substituting them for jeggings/joggers cos ya gal is now all about the comfort thang. I started dabbling in the mom jean variety when I spied these in the Topshop sale for something ridic like £15, plus they're a beaut pastel acid washed pink and I knew I kinda really needed them in my wardrobe life.

A couple of years later after buying them, they are still a firm wardrobe favorite of mine. When I'm having a ''CBA to wear anything fun day but I kinda should make an effort day'' they're the first thing I reach for, teamed with novelty socks, over exaggerated turn ups and a fun tee, I can have an off day but still look like I've made some semblance of an effort.

My love for looser fitting trousers has recently descended into madness, I wanna own all the wide leg trousers, bank account permitting and now I'm now dreaming in wide bottom beauties. The next thing in the wide leg variety I wanna try out is a pair of bell bottoms. A little while ago I saw fashion queen Amy Valentine rock a pair of MXCI crushed velvet ones that gave me all the heart eyes and left me really really wanting to own a pair of my own. After then basically and binge-ing an entire season of girl boss the other weekend and seeing Sophia strutting around SF in a pair the deal was sealed. Just gotta wait until payday. . . . why you so far away?

Also, this is the last photo set you'll see me with my old pastel hair, not like it's very pastel in this mind, I had been rained on in Manchester [lol shock] while trying to find a sick site for blog shots so with that and hair I can't even place the colour of, it did not make a great combo. Kinda glad to see the back of it NGL.

Wait, I nearly forgot, we also need to pay some sort of homage to this babe of a T-shirt that I picked up whilst in Manchester. I saw it whilst browsing UO and laughing at all the prices when I came across it and well basically it somehow ended up in a shopping bag and into my hands as I skipped merrily outta the shop. I used to love Santa Cruz back in college and this shirt is a nice little nostalgic trip back to the fashions I liked to embrace back then. Plus the colour scheme is sick and makes me think of Miami. Lord knows why, my mind works in strange ways of association.

  4. I am still on the fence about them... I think it all depends on the style and how the person styles them up. Like these look fab, especially on you, but I know with my fat tum and large bum they would not look good :')

  5. I love Mom jeans, but i've yet to try a pair on! I think I love them so much that I'm afraid to try them on and find that they don't suit me, because then I'll have devastated ha. And I'm going to miss you pastel hair, though I can't wait to see what it's like now :)

  7. Girl you look banging!!! I can never pull off mom jeans, I tried once but it left me wanting to pull off the mom jeans and never look at them again (lol I'm funny) cos they just really don't flatter me - it's so annoying though because I love the way they look on everyone else!

Maybe once I've got my bod looking how I want I'll delve into them again - kinda really want a dark grey wash pair! XO

  8. I love these jeans! I agree that mom jeans are the marmite of the fashion world. My sister hates them but I wear them literally all the time.
