The goodDYEyoung

goodDYEyoung Foxxtailz

Ok, guys you ready? This is gong to be a ridiculously photo heavy set, I know I go little upload crazy usually but this time I've gone like really overboard. I had a tough time having a look through the shoot Katie very kindly shot and edited for me and basically, I had trouble deciding so there are 26 colourful pictures for you to enjoy your lucky lucky things.

I've been dyeing my own hair since I was around 14/15, not really experimenting with vivid colour until I hit my later teens. I was influenced a lot by the music I listen to how I dressed and wanted to present myself. There was one band and one person, in particular, I fell completely in love with and that was Hayley Williams the front woman of Paramore. I have adored her style since I was 16, her I'll wear what I want attitude has inspired me to basically do the same. She's the reason I experiment with fashion, cut my hair, dye it bright colours and have fun with what I wear. Seeing her do her thing has always encouraged me to do my own thing. I've loved growing with her and her band, seeing them flourish to what they are now.

So when an email from goodDYEyoung dropped in my inbox you can just about imagine my reaction. At first, I thought it was spam or some cruel joke someone had set on me until I read it and realised the guys wanted to gift me some of their dyes. I literally died.of.happiness. This was my dream collaboration with my hero's company, lets with say I felt completely overwhelmed to be given such an amazing opportunity through my blog. I waited with bated breath until the parcel showed up and when it did, I raced home after work, skipping the gym because I was so excited to see what was inside. The box was generously filled with, one of each colour of the dyes, 3 shirts, a pillow cover, shower cap, hair fader and a bleaching kit. I was without a doubt blown away by the generosity from the guys and excited to get stuck in creating some new looks with the dyes.

I originally wanted to go all yellow with ''Steal my Sunshine'' but as I still had some blue left in my hair from all the pastel colours previous, it would have gone green in parts. I ended up going back to my old half and half hair [Hayley inspired of course] with ex-girl and blue ruin. Ex-girl is a gorgeous candy pink whereas blue ruin is the deepest of royal blues. The dyes smelt incredible and left my hair feeling super soft. The dyes are also vegan and cruelty-free so they basically tick all the boxes for the perfect dye! It's been 2 weeks since I had my little hair revamp and blue ruin has.not.budged. Like there's the tiniest bit of fading, I'd usually, in the space of 2 weeks would have already topped my hair at least once or twice. It's great to find a bright dye that actually sticks which is hard to come by when you wanna go vivid, believe me, I've been there, tried it, got the hair damage to prove it. Now ex-girl is kind of a different story and I blame it all on myself. In the past, when I've gone for the half and half thing the colours are of the same brightness/tone. I didn't think that putting a light colour and a dark colour together would make any odds, oh how wrong was I. . . . with every wash, the blue was running into the pink essentially turning it a lighter blue. In the end, I decided to bleach what was left of the pink [still vivid] using the bleach provided and I'm now all blue. Let's just say, lesson learned when coming up with future colour combos. . . . the pink that was left untouched by the blue in my hair, however, was just as vivid as it was when it was first put on. So the pink sitch aside, I would whole-heartedly 100000% recommend these dyes, so much so I've got a cart full of more blue ruin and GDY merch that's gonna be mine once payday comes around.

Now, with such an amazing collab I wanted to do everything properly in debuting the products. I enlisted the help of my friend Abbie who very kindly applied the dye to my hair, I've embedded the video at the bottom of this post so you can watch my mini hair transformation. As for the pictures, my friend Katie was the perfect person to help me out. Like me, she is a fellow parafanatic and hair dye enthusiast, [plus she's a bloody wizard with a camera] so she was more than happy to help me with my goodDYEyoung endeavor. We took to Leeds scouting out some locations to shoot. I kinda have a thing about neon lights at the moment and luckily Katie is feeling the same vibes too so we set to seek out all the neon. After exploring, chatting, eating all the yummy things and basically just hanging out, we ventured off to the local funfair to have some fun with the photos and catch that golden hour to make the photos extra dreamy. For the name of ~art~ we heading off to the waltzers to get some bomb AF shots which really just turned into Katie and I trying not to throw up our lunch as the guys that worked there spun us around more than I'm sure is legal. Let's just say it wasn't pleasant, so much so I can't even look at the shots properly without feeling a little motion sickness. Lesson learned 27 year olds can't hack waltzers [well, at least this one can't]

It was worth it all and I ended up having such a fun day in Leeds with Katie full of creativity.

Here comes the sop, this whole thing has made me feel incredible fortunate and I've been completely overwhelmed by everyone that has helped me out with my little hair thang. Like seriously shout out to Katie for the most incredible shots, be sure to check her work out www.katiemcmillan.co.uk, also bloggers in Leeds and the surrounding areas hit a gal up, she's crazy talented with a camera and Abbie for changing my hair into what it is. And also, huge thanks to the guys at the goodDYEyoung for giving me one of the most amazing opportunities I've ever been lucky enough to get through this little space of my own, you guys are the bomb.
