Style Challenge With Ego Shoes

Ego Shoes

I am most definitely one of those people that either dress super caj or super dressed up - there's never an in between, I literally have no idea how to get a happy medium. So when the guys at Ego sent me out 2 glorious pairs of shoes, I thought I'd challenge myself a bit. The first pair I was sent was a gorgeous pair of lace up heels, complete with dreamy snake embroidery up the heel, totally pulling on my inner Slytherin heart strings. [Fello Slytherins hollaa'] I have also always associated wearing heels on a night out/fancy occasion, I would never think to pair them with trousers, in the past, it's always been either a skirt or a dress.

So in a bid to steer away from my ''fancy safety net'' I decided to see if I could find something in my wardrobe that was the perfect mix of smart/caj, my arch nemesis in the fashion/styling world and if I'm being honest 9 times out of 10 you'll see me in my vans and a pair of baggy culottes, I hardly ever do the fancy thing, and when I do it's like full on dress, shoes and my trusty Vivienne Westwood bag.

After pulling out literally EVERYTHING out from my wardrobe I came up well up well and truly stupmed, realizsng very quickly that I only have going out out stuff or my regular every day things. That's until I remembered I'd recently had a little splurge at Zara thanks to gift cards I'd received for my birthday and pulled out my new smart pants and ruffle trimmed crop. What would have been a very casual outfit, was transformed into something I could see myself wearing for day drinks with girlfriends in the summer thanks to these gorgeous heels from Ego. So not only was I able to produce a perfectly good smart/casual outfit, I also managed to find a pair of trousers that went perfectly with a pair of heels, breaking the personal notion that I have that I can only style heels with dresses. Ya girls learnt all sorts of fashion things ;)

Basically, I felt like I was ready to boss the day in an outfit what was the perfect mix of smart casual and a pair of beaut heels. It's funny isn't it how a pair of shoes can make you feel?

How do you cope with the smart/caj thing? I'd love to know in the comments below.

  3. I adore EGO shoes, I've just gotten 3 pairs of mules from there haha. I love how you've styled this, it's def not dressy or too casual, it's the perfect mix of both. I always struggle with smart casual as I am usually a jeans, converse and baggy tee kinda girl

  6. Oh those shoes are GORGEOUS! Love the whole outfit. I've been really into dressing up casual outfits lately. I've been loving pairing elasticated trousers and a tshirt with a pair of high heels!
